List - University of Washington 2009/2010
I am currently a student in the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, focusing on a double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. In addition, I work at a start-up company called Salty Waffle that manages the presence of our clients in social media, educates business owners and marketing teams to build and execute a successful social media strategy, and produces content and maintains profiles in social media for our full-service clients. Currently the company consists of 3 employees, former Babylegs founder Nicole Donnelly, community manager for SwankyMom’s in Angela Ishmael, and myself. I started there as an intern in June 2010 and have since taken on new roles including managing client accounts, building and managing the online education platform we use for social media classes, and creating content for our own blog as well clients web sites. It is a unique position that requires something different everyday. The start-up culture is awesome and I enjoy going to work everyday and learning something new and working with our great clients, it never gets boring. I’ve become familiar with a host of web tools (see skills) and work with WordPress everyday while writing content for the company blog. I’m also in charge of the social presence of Salty Waffle and some of our clients– using various social platforms to get content out there and serve the community with helpful materials and ultimately, drive traffic and conversion.
Before Salty Waffle I served as a Resident Adviser in the Housing and Food Services division of the University of Washington. It was a leadership position focused on building community and supporting incoming students in the resident hall system. I was responsible for proposing, planning, and implementing educational and community building events within the halls. I worked closely with the Resident Director and was responsible for reports and documentation associated with residents of the hall. I have worked as the Resident Adviser in the pre-health specialty community as well as the engineering house community.
In addition to Resident Adviser position, I have some varying and unique work experiences including customer service manager in footwear at a mutli-million dollar Adidas location and a stint as part of the Oregon State Police’s Tobacco Task Force. Just before joining Salty Waffle, I was serving as the CEO of my own start-up company called Rep-U that worked to market local companies to the UW campus, plan events on their behalf, and manage their social online profile. It is an exciting project that has utilized the leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, technical skills, and passion for the entrepreneurial business world that I have developed during the course of my education and work experience. The project is currently on hiatus as I work for Salty Waffle and continue to bolster my start-up experience.
My time not spent in the Foster School or working at Salty Waffle is spent snowboarding, listening to music, going to concerts, buying up domain names for future companies, playing with new online tools, building websites or fixing computers for friends, playing flag football, lifting weights, working on my Krav Maga certification, or reading articles about the tech, start-ups, and social media industries. Please browse my various social profiles and feel free to contact me with questions to ask for more information that might be helpful, I’ll do my absolute best to accommodate.
